This activity is for all ages!
This activity is virtual and requires you to provide your own supplies - old, clean t-shirts and scissors. Families who sign up for this event will receive a separate email with detailed instructions and further information about our nonprofit partner and how we can help!
Let's help the Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry, a “Client Choice” Pantry, where clients make their own food selections with the help of volunteers. HIM provides meat, eggs, produce and toiletries with each order, and serves all who seek help residing in the Houston area. To help with shopping, we can make up-cycled t-shirt bags that will be filled with groceries for food pantry clients.
You will need scissors and old (clean!) t-shirts for this project. Work with your parents to find a
few shirts that you or your family members don’t want to wear anymore. Adult size shirts work
best for this project!
We recommend this online tutorial:
Pro-tip: If you shirt has a fun design on the outside, you can make sure that design is on the
front of the finished bag by starting with your shirt inside out!
You can further help HIM by hosting a porch pick up food drive for these items: canned goods, non-perishable foods, toiletries and diapers.
You can drop off your t-shirt bags and food donations to the Generation SERVE bins at 801 Bering Drive or to HIM directly at the Feed Frank Depository at 3523 Beauchamp, 77009.
