This activity is for all ages!

This activity is virtual and requires you to provide your own supplies (please see list below). Families who sign up for this event will receive a separate email with detailed instructions and further information about our nonprofit partner and how we can help!

Join the Generation SERVE Team to package non-perishable Thanksgiving items like canned green beans + mushroom soup + fried onions, canned cranberry sauce, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned sweet potatoes, canned greens, instant mashed potatoes, canned creamed corn, and cornbread mix in a festive basket or tote to share with a client living in SEARCH supportive housing. Please feel free to include an encouraging note or Thanksgiving Card expressing your gratitude for their presence in our community. Thank you for helping us ensure our neighbors have the opportunity to mark special occasions and create memories regardless of circumstance.

The Thanksgiving Kits can be dropped off to our Generation SERVE bins at HCRJ, 801 Bering Drive, 77056.

SEARCH provides hope, creates opportunity, and transforms lives for thousands of men, women, and children who are trying to break free from the cycle of poverty and homelessness in Houston. As families face greater risks of homelessness because of their limited earnings, fragile health, and fractured social supports, SEARCH created its Family First division to help families who are homeless first move into their own homes and then expand their bandwidth to better manage life. Taking a two-generation approach, SEARCH will guide parents and their children as they work to improve their learning, health, income, and other stabilizing forces.

The Rogers family was the first to be served and housed through the new program. In the words of Kimberly Rogers:

"Such a Blessing. For the last three years my daughter and I suffered through a very difficult time in our lives. My serious medical issues caused me to lose my job, and with my car breaking down and us losing our apartment, we were in a hopeless situation. I did everything I could to find any type of assistance but since my daughter is older, a lot of programs wouldn’t accept us. Now that SEARCH has helped us get our apartment, I can focus on getting back to a healthy state, and my daughter can focus on her Senior year of high school. I’m truly grateful for SEARCH and my case manager Mia encouraging me to get back up."
