Help Generation SERVE support Meals on Wheels' Spring Emergency Meal and Supply Distribution for The WOW Project – that’s Water on Wheels😊

IAs part of a Spring Emergency Meal and Supply Distribution, Interfaith Ministries’ Meals on Wheels needs our Generation SERVE volunteers to help with The WOW Project, Galveston County – that’s Water on Wheels to our friends in the areas that put the GREAT in Greater Houston. 😊

In the wake of Winter Storm Uri, Interfaith Ministries’ Meals on Wheels has seen an increase in requests for bottled water.  They now need our help in getting cases of bottled water to Meals on Wheels seniors.

On Saturday, May 1st, we invite you to join us at:

4102 Main St. (inside Carbide Park)

La Marque, TX 77568

Supply pick-up will take place between 10:00 AM and 12 noon on Saturday, May 1st. Each car will be sent with 5-7 cases of water (24 - 16 oz. bottles per case) and a route sheet, with the addresses and people to whom these will be delivered. There will be Interfaith Ministries staff on-site that morning, to help load water in cars and to provide volunteers with route delivery sheets. Deliveries can be completed over the weekend of May 1-2 during daylight hours, at your convenience.

Register to deliver Water on Wheels to seniors in Galveston County here (only 1 registration is needed, per vehicle):

As with all interactions with seniors, we ask that everyone participating in this effort wear masks at all times and adhere to Social Distancing Delivery Protocol, which Interfaith Ministries will send to those who register, as event day approaches. Since the items you will be delivering might be heavy for our seniors, we suggest calling them prior to arrival to ask where they would like you to place the water (suggest a chair on their porch, if available). Volunteers are not permitted to enter their home, per COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Routes will be given out at random. Deliveries will be in Galveston County, including the towns of Dickinson, Texas City, San Leon, Santa Fe, Hitchcock, Friendswood, League City, Bacliff, La Marque, and Galveston (that’s Galveston Island, from East Beach to Jamaica Beach). As with all delivery events, we ask that volunteers come with a full tank of gas and a willingness to travel. There are over 600 seniors to serve throughout Galveston County and each of them will be delighted to receive this service and a friendly smile on the other side of the door. 😊
