This activity is for all ages!
This activity is virtual and requires you to provide your own supplies - large ziplock bags and suggested items to place in bags such as bottled water, flashlights and batteries, nonperishable snacks, hand cranked radios (optional), backup batteries, ziplock bags for documents, toilet paper, first aid kit. Families who sign up for this event will receive a separate email with detailed instructions and further information about our nonprofit partner and how we can help!
SEARCH provides hope, creates opportunity, and transforms lives for thousands of men, women, and children who are trying to break free from the cycle of poverty and homelessness in Houston. During hurricane season from June to November, people living on the streets face an elevated risk of displacement and unsafe conditions. Let's make “hurricane kits” for SEARCH to provide to their clients to enhance their disaster preparedness. For this project, we recommend that volunteers place the following items in a plastic container or large Ziploc: Bottled water, flashlights and batteries, nonperishable snacks, hand cranked radios (optional), backup batteries, ziplock bags for documents, toilet paper, first aid kit. You can also make cards to place in the kits with messages to brighten the day for SEARCH's clients who are experiencing homelessness.
