This activity is great for readers of all ages!
This activity is virtual and requires you to provide your own supplies - a favorite book to read, a phone or computer with a camera to record your story, and paper bags to collect books. Families who sign up for this event will receive a separate email with detailed instructions and further information about our nonprofit partner and how we can help!
We are so excited to help our nonprofit partner Literacy Now with its mission to transform communities by empowering children and families through literacy, leadership and life skills.
This 4th of July, Generation SERVE volunteers will help by becoming a virtual reader to ensure that kids keep reading throughout the summer! You can also help by hosting a book drive for Literacy Now to distribute books to students and families and encourage the love of reading! You can make a Generation SERVE flyer or you can use one we have HERE. Collect grocery sized paper or reuseable bags or boxes and leave them on your neighbors' porch with a note that you will return in a few days to collect what they can donate. Feel free to get creative to host the book drive! In addition to the porch pick up book drive, you also can ask your friends and neighbors to donate books in a social media campaign, or with phone calls, emails, or letters.
We will send detailed instructions for both the virtual readers and the book drive when you sign up!
