Deliver Groceries to Homebound Seniors with Meals on Wheels and ERJCC

Activity Description

Help deliver groceries to the clients of Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston (ERJCC).

The Evelyn Rubenstein JCC Meals on Wheels program serves homebound seniors living in Southwest Houston which includes West University Place, Southside Place, Gulfton, Shenandoah, Braes Timbers, Meyerland, Almeda, Braeburn Terrace, City of Bellaire, Brays Oaks, Fondren, Central Southwest, Willow Meadows, Willowbend, Braeswood Place, and Westbury. 

Activity Requirements

• This activity is great for all ages. A driver who is at least 18 years old must be present.
• If this is your first time delivering Meals on Wheels for ERJCC, please complete their policies & procedures form before you sign up for a route!
• You will need to sign up 1 driver per family to deliver food on the ERJCC registration page: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4aa5a628abf8c52-meals3
• Generation SERVE adheres to the following COVID-19 policies to help keep your family and ours safe. We will continue to respect our partners' mask requirements as well as your family's decision around wearing masks.

Activity Directions

• When you arrive, enter & exit the ERJCC parking lot through the main entrance on Atwell, at the gate closest to S. Braeswood.
• Park & enter through the main lobby entrance. Tell them you are here for Meals on Wheels. You will pick up your grocery bags (two per client).
• Client names and address will be provided at the time of meal pickup along with any special instructions.
• Deliveries take 1-2 hours. No need to return to the JCC after the delivery
• Delivery Note: If a client isn't home when you deliver, please make sure to call them in case they can't hear the door. If you can't reach them, you can leave the groceries at the front door because they are getting all pantry staples that do not require refrigeration.
