SERVE at Home - Collect Books & Write Notes for Readers at Any Baby Can

Activity Description

SERVE at Home is a way for your family to spread kindness and help our community on your own, anytime, anywhere! We want to keep Austin volunteering all week long!

Go through your home library to see if you have any gently used books you can donate for families at Any Baby Can. Once you find one or more books, you can create notes of love and encouragement for their clients that will fill them with joy and surprise when they are reading! When your cards are done, place one inside the pages of each book. The cards can be for the parents or for the child. It's up to you! If you choose to donate more than one book, please provide books for a variety of ages. Spanish books are always a hit! Any Baby Can serves clients anywhere from 0-20, so they are willing to accept books that fit any age range!

You will need to provide the supplies for this activity. You can complete this activity on your own anytime during the month.

Activity Requirements

• This activity is great for ages 6 and up. 
• Our program is designed to be a family experience. We want parents and caregivers to work alongside their child(ren) for all our Family Volunteering activities.

Activity Directions

Find a gently used book you can donate and make a fun note of encouragement with to place inside the book. Your note should include fun pictures, and message such as:

• “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” —Dr. Seuss
• “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” —Margaret Fuller
• Have a great day and enjoy this book!
• Just keep reading!
• You are awesome!
• And more...

Supplies needed:

• At least one gently used book
• Paper or note cards
• Markers, crayons or colored pencils
• Stencils and stickers (optional)

Please email the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator at volunteer@anybabycan.org to coordinate a drop-off time. Any Baby Can is open on weekdays from 8am-5pm.
