Activity Description

SERVE at Home is a way for your family to spread kindness and help our community on your own, anytime, anywhere! We want to keep Austin volunteering all week long!


For this activity, you will work with your family at home to make snack care kits for Caritas of Austin. These kits will help individuals experiencing homelessness who walk into Caritas needing access to healthy snacks. You will need to provide the supplies for this activity. You can complete this activity on your own anytime during the month.


Activity Directions

Purchase the following items to put in ziploc bags (if not all are available, as many as you can find): granola bars, slim jims, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, water bottles, Emergen-C or Vitamin C packets. You can purchase and make as many snack care kits as your family is able to donate. We recommend a minimum of 12 snack care kits.


When finished, you can drop the snack care kits off at Caritas.

Drop-Off Instructions: Please call 512-479-4610 the day you plan to drop off so the staff is ready to collect your donation. For the Caritas staff’s safety, as well as yours, they ask that all donations be dropped off at their loading dock on the side of the building – directly across the street from the ARCH on 7th. There is a brown garage door. Ring the doorbell and the Pantry Aide will collect the donations.

Activity Requirements

  • This activity is great for all ages. 
  • Our program is designed to be a family experience. We want parents and caregivers to work alongside their child(ren) for all our Family Volunteering activities.
