Activity Description

Help children maintain their connection to their incarcerated mothers! Women's Storybook Project (WSP) is having a book drive for new children's books at Barnes & Noble. This book drive is WSP's biggest and most important book drive of the year, and it contributes most of the books that go to the children of incarcerated mothers. Your family will interact with customers, tell them about WSP and encourage them to donate a book.

Activity Requirements

  • This activity is for children age 8 and up.
  • This opportunity is great for families who are comfortable proactively walking up to customers at the store and striking a conversation about WSP.
  • Generation SERVE adheres to the following COVID-19 policies to help keep your family and ours safe. We will continue to respect our partners' mask requirements as well as your family's decision around wearing masks.

More About Our Partner

Women's Storybook Project helps incarcerated mothers maintain contact with and bring comfort to their children. They help mothers record stories and messages of love for their children and then mail the recordings along with books so the children can hear their mother’s voice and know that she is thinking of them.

Support Generation SERVE

We provide supplies and an Activity Lead for every activity. A $30 donation would help us cover the costs for this activity! We also greatly appreciate donations from our Amazon wishlist! Finally, you also can become a family sponsor to support us in providing fun volunteer opportunities for other families! Thank you for your support and generosity! We appreciate it!
